John Legend , born John Roger Stephens on December 28, 1978 in Springfield, Ohio, is a composer, pianist, actor and singer of soul and R'n'B American.

Since childhood, John Legend has been passionate about music. His parents, practicing Christians, immediately introduced him to music through their church. Gospel and Christian songs pushed him to throw himself body and soul into music. He will release his first album Get Lifted in Autumn 2004, under the GOOD Music label, featuring collaborations with rapper and producer Kanye West on Number One and Snoop Dogg on I Can Change.

His first singles on the charts are Used To Love U and Ordinary People.

John Legend also contributed to Slum Village's song Selfish, Lauryn Hill's Everything Is Everything, and sang on Encore's Jay-Z Black Album, Alicia Keys' You Do not Know My Name, Around My Way of Talib Kweli, High Road of Fort Minor and Getting Nowhere of Magnetic Man.
