Jonathan Houseman Davis , also known as JD or JDevil , is the lead singer of the American nude metal band Korn.
He was born on January 18, 1971 in Bakersfield, California, where his father, Rick Davis, of North Irish (Scottish-Irish) origin, ran a music store. Her mother, Holly Chavez, was an actress and professional dancer. Jonathan Davis has a sister, Alyssa Davis, a half sister, Amanda Chavez, and a half brother, Mark Chavez, who is the former singer of Adema.
His parents divorced when he was 3 years old and he was raised in part by his mother-in-law Lilly with whom he had a very bad relationship as she harassed and tortured him. The song Kill you from the album Life is peachy talks about this woman >>>>> whose father Jonathan Davis divorced then. The song Daddy gave birth to a rumor that Rick Davis, Jonathan's father, had raped him even though Jonathan said in several interviews that this song was written about a friend of the family who had abused him sexually. He says that as a child, when he turned to his family to tell them, they did not believe him. Neither Jonathan nor his father said who this person was, however, both say it was a woman. The new companion of his mother, a fundamentalist Catholic, struck him. The song named Falling Away From Me from the album Issues refers to this man.
At college, a fan of new wave and his idol being Alice Cooper, he stood out for his androgynous dress style (he was wearing eyeliner for example). He was molested for this reason; several songs of KoRn refer to this time and the homophobic insults that he received like Faget of the first album of Korn or Thoughtless of Untouchables. In addition, the tattoo of Jonathan Davis on his shoulder, HIV, is the English name for the AIDS virus, a reference to the old insults he has been accused of.
