Joyce Jonathan , born November 3, 1989 in Levallois-Perret, is a French singer-songwriter and guitarist.
Joyce Jonathan, born to a Tunisian Jewish mother>, Patricia Tartour, director and founder of the travel agency Maison de la Chine>, and an architect's father>, is the youngest of three sisters (her big sisters are Victoria and Sarah), and has two half-brothers. She studied at the Alsatian School in Paris.
At the age of 7, she learned piano and composed her first songs, which she shared with her older sisters. She continues her efforts by enrolling in piano lessons but also, at age 11 without notifying her parents, to singing lessons. She learns guitar self-taught, influenced by artists such as Teri Moses, Michel Berger, Jean-Jacques Goldman and Tracy Chapman.
She was only 16 when she posted on the social networking site MySpace> three of her compositions. She also contacted Michael Goldman, co-founder of the new My Major Company community label, to encourage him to listen to his titles.
