Kaiser chiefs

Kaiser Chiefs is a British independent rock band from Leeds, West Yorkshire. It was originally formed in 1997 as Parva , then renamed Kaiser Chiefs in 2003. It consists of five members: singer Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew White, bassist Simon Rix, the keyboardist Nick Baines and drummer Nick Hodgson, replaced by Vijay Mistry in 2013. Their debut album, Employment , released in 2005, is a great commercial success and critics and earned them three Brit Awards in 2006. Their second album, Yours Truly, Angry Mob , also met with some success, including through the single Ruby . They then released two more albums, Off with Their Heads in 2008 and The Future Is Medieval in 2011, which are less successful. Their fifth album, Education, Education, and Education, was released in 2014, followed by their sixth album, Stay Together in 2016 and their seventh album Duck in 2019.

Around the age of eleven, Nick Hodgson, Nick Baines and Simon Rix meet at St. Mary's Catholic High School in Menston, a suburb of Leeds. Rix and Baines then go to college in 1996, while Hodgson decides to stay in Leeds, where he meets Andrew White and Ricky Wilson. All three formed in 1997 the Runston Parva group whose name comes from Ruston Parva, a hamlet in East Yorkshire. With the return of Baines and Rix, they renamed the group Parva >. The beginnings are difficult but their reputation gradually crosses the limits of Leeds and the label Mantra Recordings, a subsidiary of Beggars Banquet Records, makes them sign a contract.

The band Parva records an album, 22 , which comes out in 2002. But Mantra Recordings closes its doors soon after and the group is thus left without contract. They decide to start from scratch, abandoning all their old repertoire to compose new songs and change their name. They re-named Kaiser Chiefs in 2003, according to South African club Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, in which played Lucas Radebe, then captain of the Leeds team, whose members of the group are supporters. Artistic agent James Sandom hears about them and comes to see them at a concert. He is struck by the number of songs in their repertoire that have the potential to become successful singles and makes them sign a contract with the B-Unique> label.

Oh My God and I Predict a Riot come out in singles in 2004 and manage to integrate the classification of the UK Singles Chart, respectively to 66> and 22> places>. The group is noticed by the New Musical Express, which invites him to join in the tour NME Tour that he organizes annually and the reward Phillip Hall Radar Award>. The album Employment , influenced by both punk rock from the late 1970s and new wave>, was released in March 2005 and is very well received by critics. He attains the 3rd place of the UK Albums Chart and is certified five times platinum record in the UK in less than a year.
