Kaoma

Kaoma is a band formed by former Touré Kunda musicians: Chico (bassist, from Martinique), Jacky (guitarist, from Guadeloupe), Jean-Claude (keyboardist, from Toulouse), Michel (drums and percussion), Fania Niang (chorister, senegalese of Paris, former model notably for Jean-Paul Goude>) and Loalwa Braz (singer, Brazilian, recognized in her country thanks to a solo career well filled before ), as well as Monica Nogueira, singer since the age of 6 years , also recognized in her country and who represented the beauty of the Brazilian woman in all the clips of the Kaoma group . The rhythm of the lambada was reported in France in 1989 by French producers (including Olivier Lorsac) who had gone to Brazil.

The Lambada, the group's first single, is actually a plagiarism of the song Llorando flee, the Bolivian group of Andean music Los Kjarkas (the pan flute was replaced by the accordion in La Lambada). They will assert their rights and will win in 1991 by collecting the 6 million francs (about 1.3 million euros) in copyright that Kaoma had unduly received>.

The video clip broadcast in a loop on television helped to make La Lambada the hit of the summer of 1989>. In 1989, the title "La Lambada" remains classified in France for 27 weeks of which 12 weeks number 1 .

Kaoma will release other hits like Dançando Lambada (en) and Tago Mago.Chico and Roberta , the two children we see in the clip, also released a 45rpm named "Frente a frente" .Kaoma also made a cover in Portuguese of "Another Star "by Stevie Wonder under the title" (Fugir) ... Outro Lugar ". Salome de Bahia, produced by Bob Sinclar, will make a latin house cover of their version which will be very successful.
