The Kingsmen

The Kingsmen is an American garage rock band from Portland, Oregon. He remained famous for his cover of the song Louie Louie Louie, released as a single in 1963. The band also recorded a version of Night Train, a blues standard. After leaving the band, some members of the Kingsmen made a name for themselves, always in the musical field like Turley Richards, or in business like Yank Barry. In 1962, while playing a concert at the Pypo Club in Seaside, Oregon, then being managed by Al Dardis, the group heard a version of Louie Louie of the Rockin' Robin Roberts played on a jukebox. The whole club will get up and dance. Ely convinces the Kingsmen to learn the song that they will play in clubs and win a success of esteem>. Without knowing it, he changes the beat>. Ken Chase, host of the KISN radio station, forms his own club to take advantage of this phenomenon. Louie Louie reached the top of the rankings in 1963.
