Lamb of God , often abbreviated LOG >>>, is an American groove metal band from Richmond, Virginia. Formed in 1994 under the name Burn the Priest, the group consists of singer Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell, and drummer Chris Adler. The band is considered influential in the movement "New Wave of American Heavy Metal >>>>>.

Since its inception, Lamb of God has listed a total of seven studio albums (one under the name Burn the Priest), a live album, a compilation and three DVDs. The number of sales in the United States exceeds two million copies. In 2010 and 2011, the band is nominated for the Grammy Awards for songs from the album Wrath . Lamb of God participates twice in Ozzfest and once on Slayer's Unholy Alliance tour. Their other appearances include Download Festival and Sonisphere Festival in the UK, the Soundwave Festival in Australia, the Mayhem Festival 2010 and Gigantour. From 2008 to 2010, they participate in the World Magnetic Tour of Metallica.

In 1994, guitarist Mark Morton, drummer Chris Adler, bassist John Campbell and Matt Conner formed a band called Burn the Priest. The group members meet at the same school, Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Morton and Conner leave shortly after the group to focus on their studies. Adler and Campbell replace Morton with Abe Spear. For the next five years, the group trains in Richmond and around the state of Virginia. In 1995, the group released its first eponymous demo. After the demo, Burn the Priest records two EP split with Agents of Satan and ZED respectively. After the band's first three demos, Burn the Priest recruits singer Randall Blythe>.

In 1997, Morton returns to the group. Two years later, the band released their first album, "Burn the Priest" , to the Legion Records label. Mikey Brosnan of Legion Records saves $ 2,500 for the recording and is spent on self-produced tours in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The album is produced by the guitarist and singer of Today Is the Day (en) , Steve Austin. Spear leaves the band, leaving a vacant guitarist's place. Willie Adler becomes second guitarist of the group the following year, and a contract with Prosthetic Records is signed>. Contrary to rumors, the band does not change its name for Lamb of God after being banned from touring; this ban occurs well after. They change names to avoid being confused with a group of satanic metal.
