Liquid tension experiment

Liquid Tension Experiment is an American instrumental progressive metal supergroup. He was trained in 1998 by Tony Levin (bass, chapman stick), John Petrucci (guitar), Mike Portnoy (drums) and Jordan Rudess (synthesizer) at the initiative of the American record company Magna Carta.

This parallel group only performed in concert four times. The show started with jazzy improvisation and ended with the song Acid Rain. Their two albums were fully composed and recorded in one week each.

Shortly after recording the second album, keyboardist Jordan Rudess is integrated Dream Theater (including Mike Portnoy and John Petrucci are members), replacing Derek Sherinian. With three of the four members now part of Dream Theater, the band no longer has much reason to be and decides to end the experiment by mutual agreement.

The titles of Liquid Tension Experiment are sometimes taken over entirely or in part by Dream Theater during their concerts, including Acid Rain that can be heard on the album Live Scenes From New York.
