Living colour

Living Color is an American heavy metal band from New York. Living Color's music is a fusion of funk, rock, metal, jazz and rap, with lyrics that attack the WASP mentality and racism in America. The group is part of the merger movement that developed from the mid-1980s including Fishbone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, King's X, and Jane's Addiction, the main influence of the group remaining the Bad Brains. Titles like Cult of Personality , Love Rears Its Ugly Head or Leave It Alone are emblematic of the style of Living Color.

In 1984, guitarist Vernon Reid brought together exceptional musicians to form the group Living Color: Will Cahloun received the first percussion prize at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, bassist Muzz Skillings graduated in musicology. Corey Glover, the singer, plays a role in Oliver Stone's movie Platoon . Together, they create a music that mixes all styles without worrying about musical partitions: they merge rock, funk, heavy metal, reggae, punk, jazz, soul, rap, even calypso or zouk. They are supported by members of the Rolling Stones, who take them with them on tour, and invite them to play on their respective solo albums.

Vivid , their first album, co-produced by Mick Jagger, reached the top of the US charts and was twice certified platinum in the United States. US>. Their hit Cult of Personality allows them to get a Grammy Award for the best hard-rock song in 1989 >>>. They also receive a prize at the MTV Video Music Awards in the category of Best New Band the same year. The next album, Time's Up , is collaborating with Little Richard and Carlos Santana. The song Love Rears Its Ugly Head is a success. The following year appears an EP titled Biscuits . In 1993, they participated in the soundtrack of the film "Judgment Night" with the Run-DMC rap group>; and in 1994 with the reprise of Sunshine of Your Love in the soundtrack of the film True Lies . Vernon Reid is solicited from all sides, which starts the cohesion of the group. Muzz Skillings leaves the ship, replaced by Doug Wimbish, who previously played with James Brown and George Clinton. Stain is their last album. The group finally separates at the beginning of 1995>. Pride , a compilation of their best songs and four new songs from the aborted sessions of the fourth album, is released this same year.

After six years of separation, Living Color re-forms for a tour in 2001 that takes them to a concert at the Montreux Jazz Festival. This tour is followed by the release of an album, Collideøscope on October 7, 2003>; the album is rather well received by the whole of the specialized press >>>. They participate in the Jazz Festival of Montreux, Switzerland, the same year>.
