Moby

Richard Melville Hall , known as Moby , is a singer-songwriter, singer, musician, producer, DJ and American photographer born on September 11, 1965 in New York. Multi-instrumentalist, he sings, plays guitar, keyboards, bass and percussion. The artist approaches, through electronic music, a multiplicity of musical genres where he draws his inspiration as well in techno, as in blues or rock.

Moby is one of the figures of dance music of the 1990s. He has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. A committed artist, he is also known for his veganism, his defense of animal rights and his democratic opinions.

Before gaining his current notoriety, Moby has produced his music under different pseudonyms such as Voodoo Child , Barracuda, UHF, The brotherhood , Schaumgummi, DJ Cake, Lopez, Brainstorm & Mindstorm or The Pork Guys . His first hits like Go in 1990 and the album Everything is Wrong in 1995 have made him known in the world of electronic music as techno or ambient. After a period turned towards punk rock, his international success begins with the album Play in 1999 turned to electronica and downtempo, composed of successes such as Porcelain, Natural Blues and Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? and sold 10 million copies worldwide. It is followed by 18 in 2002 which continues the same sound and is sold to 5 million copies worldwide. He leans towards alternative rock for Hotel in 2005, sold 2 million copies. He returned to his dance debut with Last Night in 2008 and ambient with Wait for Me in 2009. After his albums Destroyed in 2011 and Innocents in 2013, he created in 2016 a committed group named The Void Pacific Choir.

He collaborated, produced and remixed with internationally known artists such as David Lynch, New Order, The B-52's, Brian Eno, Erasure, Metallica, Soundgarden, The Prodigy, David Bowie, Corsten Ferry, Mylène Farmer, Sinéad O'Connor , Public Enemy, Plastikman, The Rolling Stones, Daft Punk, Pet Shop Boys, Skylar Gray, Jean-Michel Jarre, etc.
