Mors principium est

Mors Principium Est (from Latin: "death is only the beginning") is a Finnish melodic death metal band from Pori. Formed in 1999, the band has a total of six albums.

The band released their new album, entitled "Embers of a Dying World" , in early 2017 via AFM Records.

Mors Principium Est (MPE) was formed in 1999 in Pori, Finland, under the leadership of Jori Haukio (vocals / guitar), Jarkko Kokko (guitar) and Toni Nummelin (keyboards); Mikko Sipola (battery) joins them soon after. In 2000, Jori decides to stop singing to focus on his guitar playing, Ville Viljanen becomes the new singer of the group. The first demo is recorded with this formation, and therefore without bass line. Listenable Records, French label, is interested, but wants the presence of a bass player full time. Teemu Heinola then joins the band>.

Two more demos are released in 2001 and 2002, following which Listenable signs the band for three albums. The first opus, Inhumanity , is recorded and mixed by Ahti Kortelainen at Tico-Tico Studios, then mastered at Finnvox; he finally leaves in the spring of 2003>. The second installment, The Unborn , sees several changes from the first: Joona Kukkola now holds the position of keyboardist, and the appearance of female voices brings a big plus compared to its predecessor. The third album, Liberation = Termination, was released in 2007, after a difficult period of research for a new guitarist.

After several years of absence the fourth installment, ... and Death Said Live is released on December 14, 2012 for Europe and January 15, 2013 for the rest of the world on the AFM Records label. Following the success of ... and Death Said Live the band recruits a new member Kevin Verlay on the guitar, and thus separates from Andhe Chandler. The band is back in 2014 and released their new album titled "Dawn of the 5th Era" on December 5, 2014 via AFM Records.
