Nachtmystium

Nachtmystium is an American psychedelic black metal band from Wheaton, Illinois. It is created by Blake Judd and Pat McCormick and is inspired by a portmanteau derived from the German Nacht (night) and mystium, resembling the Latin adjective mysticum. According to the founding members of the group, the term means "surrounding darkness" .

If the group evolves in its early days in a rather classic black metal, their sound has evolved a lot to immerse themselves in psychedelic sounds, gradually moving away from the black metal scene. The group is also known for its assumption of belonging to the NSBM movement, which members have always contested.

Nachtmystium was originally founded by Blake Judd and Pat McCormick as a side project >>>. The band is very much influenced by Black Metal's second wave bands like Darkthrone and Burzum, as evidenced by their first low-fi album. / span> released in 2002>. Nachtmystium embarks on the recording of a new album in 2011>. The progression of the album is turned upside down by the departure of Judd's long-time friend, Jeff Wilson, who leaves Nachtmystium for personal reasons. Finally, in 2012, Nachtmystium released his sixth album, Silencing Machine . The album marks the separation of the two previous albums Black Meddle . Judd describes the album as "a sequel to Instinct: Decay" . He explains that the album is "always so psychedelic here and there".
