Nada surf

Nada Surf is an American rock band from New York, led by the charismatic singer and guitarist Matthew Caws. Formed in 1993, it is thanks to their first single Popular (from the album High / Low released in 1996) that the group has quickly earned a worldwide reputation and toured the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and Brazil.

Their songs have served as soundtracks in popular American TV series such as "Six Feet Under", Newport Beach , How I Met Your Mother or Heroes . They are also credited with an appearance in The Scott Brothers.

Nada Surf was formed in the early 1990s by Matthew Caws and Daniel Lorca in New York. Both shared the benches of the Lycée Français de New York and studied in Belgium and France. They played in several groups, including "The Cost of Living" , and Because Because Because in 1991>. Their first drummer is named Dan, the band alludes to it later in the song The Plan (album High / Low ). Dan is replaced by Aaron Conte and Because Because Because becomes Nada Surf in 1993>. The band recorded its first two-tracks: The Plan / Telescope (1994), as well as the Tafkans demo, raw version of High / Low . From this demo are excerpts from the titles of the second vinyl, Deeper Well / Pressure Free (1995), Karmic and North 6th Street .

Aaron Conte eventually left the band and was replaced at the beginning of 1995 by Ira Elliot, former drummer of the Fuzztones group very present on the New York scene of the 1980s, and of which Caws and Lorca were fans. They had dreamed for several years to ask him to join them, but had found it more relevant to wait to acquire a certain level. The arrival of Elliot within Nada Surf is a founding element, since from then on, the ambition of Caws and Lorca is increased tenfold, because if they want to keep such a drummer, they must see big.
