Parquet Courts is an independent American rock band, originally from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2010.
Parquet Courts was formed in Brooklyn in 2010 by singer-songwriters Andrew Savage and Austin Brown, Texas natives who have known each other since their studies at the North Texas University of Denton. The band is completed by drummer Max Savage (Andrew's younger brother) and bassist Sean Yeaton (originally from Boston). The quartet gives its first concert in December 2010>. The first recordings by Parquet Courts are on the American Specialties cassette released at the end of 2011 >>>.
Their first real album, Light Up Gold was released in August 2012 on Dull Tools, a microlabel created by Andrew Savage>. The LP is completed in three days, after recording twenty titles in thirty hours with producer Jonathan Schenke.
Light Up Gold is enjoying a second life due to its reissue in January 2013 by the label What's Your Rupture? >>>>>. The group is then unanimously praised, both by the mainstream press and the underground blogosphere >>>. With this surprise success, Parquet Courts begins a world tour and publishes at the end of 2013, the EP "Tally All the Things That You Broke under the name Parkay Quarter>. In January 2014, the group interpreted the title "Stoned and Starving" in the program Late Night with Jimmy Fallon
