Patrick Doyle , born April 6, 1953 in Uddingston, Scotland, is a British composer who has written numerous musical scores for radio, television, theater and film.

Patrick Doyle graduated (1974) from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where he took piano and voice lessons.

In 1987, Patrick Doyle joined the Renaissance Theater Company as a composer and music director. There he meets Kenneth Branagh, with whom he becomes friends. He even makes appearances as an actor in the troupe.

He then worked with director Judi Dench in the production of Look Back in Anger on television and composed scores for King Lear and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
