Paul van Dyk , by his real name Matthias Paul , nicknamed DFM , born December 16, 1971 in Eisenhüttenstadt, is a German disc jockey and composer . DJ number one worldwide for two years between 2005 and 2006> according to the DJ Mag , he is named in the category "Best Dance / Electronic Album" for her 2004 Grammy® Reflections album, and mix for a Mixmag .

Paul van Dyk started his career at the Tresor Club in Berlin in 1991. His title Out Out and Back was released in 2000, as did his song , For An Angel . The latter has had international success, placing Paul van Dyk among the best known electronic DJs and electronic music producers. The song has reached the number one spot of the UK Dance Chart and has remained a classic since its release, it remains one of the most famous trance songs. For example in 2013, it is recognized by Mixmag readers as the 8> biggest dance song in history>.

In 2004, he made a political commitment as part of "America's Rock the Vote Campaign" . Since then, he hosts a weekly radio show on the German radio Fritz every Wednesday from 20 to 22 hours in parallel with his DJ business.

Paul van Dyk grew up east of Berlin with only one parent; his father leaves the family home while Paul is four years old. There, he became a technician and then an apprentice carpenter. Paul van Dyk explains that his passion for music comes from radio>. At this period without a record store in his city, he listens to the popular but banned radio stations RIAS (Radio in the American Sector) and SFB, as well as mixtapes occasionally smuggled into the country. Shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall, van Dyk and his mother were allowed to leave the territory and moved to Hamburg to live with his aunt. In 1990, van Dyk returns to Berlin. His first appearance as a DJ was at Tresor Club in March 1991.
