Phantom planet

Phantom Planet is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California. This group is known for their title California, which was the main theme of the American series Newport Beach (The O.C.).

They signed in 2007 on the label Fueled By Ramen, label also counting groups like Panic! at the Disco, Paramore, Starship Cobra, Gym Class Heroes. The group announced during their last concert on December 12, 2008 that it was a break of indefinite duration.

The name of Phantom Planet is inspired by a series B called The Phantom Planet. They play their first concert in 1994 at Troubadour in Hollywood, California. Two of their songs are included as bonuses in the Chicago DVD, Chicagogoing, Chicagogone. Always in adolescence, the group attracts the interest of the executives of Geffen Records. Phantom Planet is Missing will be compared to the band Weezer, and is inspired by groups ranging from Beach Boys to the Electric Light Orchestra.

Later, after Universal's acquisition of Geffen Records, Phantom Planet signs with Epic Records. Charlotte Froom, daughter of producer Mitchell Froom - who worked with Elvis Costello and Paul McCartney - will be asking to produce their second album. Excited by the band's music, the young Froom will ask to meet Phantom Planet. The Guest is published in 2002.
