The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster , is a British rock band and punk garage, originally from Brighton, England. Active from 1999 to 2013, the group is characterized by a rather dark sound with a throaty voice, a very present bass, an independent group style guitar and a tribal drumming drum.
Formed in 1999, the band is initially made up of Guy McKnight (singer), Andy Huxley (guitarist), Marc Norris (guitarist), Symren Gharial (bassist) and Tom Diamantopoulo (drummer).
In May 2005, Andy Huxley left the band (for musical divergence) and was replaced by Rich Fownes of With Scissors. In turn, in early 2008, he left the group on good terms to join Nine Inch Nails. The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster releases three albums: Hörse of the Dög in 2002, The Royal Society in October 2004 (not distributed in France) and Blood and Fire in 2010. In 2003, Guy McKnight, Tom Diamantopoulo and the former member Andy Huxley will become Buddhists after dropping the drug. In 2005, they played the first part of System of a Down during their European tour. In 2007 and 2008, they are the first part of Queens of the Stone Age in the United Kingdom.
In March 2011, the group announces its separation>, but meets again in its original formation for concerts in June 2012. This follows a very popular advertisement of the firm Nike using their title Chicken>. In May 2013, when he had begun writing a fourth album and scheduled a tour, the group announced his separation again. The reasons for this separation are related to artistic differences within the group.
