Propagandhi

Propagandhi is a Canadian hardcore punk rock band from Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He trained in 1986 by Chris Hannah and Jord Samolesky. The group is currently based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While their earlier work was more punk rock and punk skateboarding, Propagandhi's latest recordings are moving towards heavier music and heavy metal sounding sound >>>>>.

Propagandhi is an active veganarchist group (contraction of vegan and anarchist) that supports animal liberation and anarchism >>>. The group is known as a defender of various anarchist causes and as having taken an active stance against human rights violations, sexism, racism, homophobia, imperialism, capitalism and religion.

In 1986, Samolesky and Hannah recruit the band's original bassist, Scott Hopper, with a poster "Progressive trash band looking for bassist" displayed at a record store>. Hopper is replaced at the end of the decade by Mike Braumeister. The band then performed for the first time. After several demos and larger shows (including one with Fugazi), the group finally makes its place and begins to make a name. At that time, Braumeister moved to Vancouver and a young musician and poet, John K. Samson, became the band's third bassist.

In 1992, Propagandhi performed with the American band NOFX, and made a cover of Cheap Trick, Surrender . Impressed by the group's performance, Fat Mike has them sign on his independent label Fat Wreck Chords. Later, the band accompanied him to Los Angeles, California, where they recorded their first album "How to Clean Everything" , released in 1993. The group spent the next three years touring and enjoying the explosion of the popularity of punk rock in the mid-1990s.
