Ricchi e Poveri (pronounced: ) is an Italian music group. He made his debut in 1967 in Genoa. With more than 20 million records sold in the 1970s and 1980s, the band managed to turn some of their songs into real hits, both locally and internationally. They represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 1978, with the song Questo Amore, and they participate in many editions of the Sanremo Festival, finishing in second place in 1970 and 1971, as well as in fifth position in 1981 before winning the victory in 1985 with the title Se m'innamoro. Their two greatest successes are Che sarà (en) , in 1971, and Sarà perché ti amo, in 1981, which will become the theme song for Claude Miller's French film L'Effrontée and was rewritten in French by Karen Cheryl (under the title Les nouveaux romanttiques).
In its early days and until 1981, the group consisted of four singers - two men and two women. These original members are Franco Gatti (Genoa, October 4, 1942), Angela Brambati (Genoa, October 20, 1947), Sardinia Angelo Sotgiu ( Trinità d'Agultu, February 22, 1946) and Marina Occhiena (Genoa, March 19, 1950).
Before the formation of the group, Angelo and Franco are part of the Jets (not to be confused with the Jet, another Genoese group active ten years later, some of whose members come from Matia Bazar). It is with the Jets that they make their first discographic experiments, realizing four singles between 1963 and 1964, under label ITV.
For her part, Angela Brambati sings for I Preistorici, a beat band. She is also engaged to Angelo.
