Rilo Kiley is an independent rock band based in Los Angeles and composed of Blake Sennett, Jenny Lewis, Reeder Stone and Jason Boesel.
Led by former child actors Jenny Lewis and Blake Sennett, the band began their career on the independent label Barsuk Records, which released their first album Take Offs and Landings in 2001. Rilo Kiley then signed with Omaha-based Saddle Creek Records, which publishes The Execution of All Things in 2002. In 2004, More Adventurous was distributed by their own label, Brute / Beaute Records, a branch of Warner. Rilo Kiley finally signed on the label Warner Music Group>.
After making its debut on the independent stage, the band became known to a wider audience thanks to the success of the album More Adventurous, which in September 2004 reached seventh place in the Top Heatseekers ranking established by Billboard magazine. >. For the promotion of the album, they appeared in the talk shows of Conen O'Brien and Jimmy Kimmel. Rilo Kiley's members have also made their mark with their solo projects and their collaborations with other artists. Sennett and Boesel made two albums under the name of The Elected, Me First in 2004 and Sun, Sun, Sun in 2006. In early 2006, Jenny Lewis made an album with Watson Twins called Rabbit Fur Coat. She also sings on The Postal Service's Give Up album and toured with Ben Gibbard's electro band. Rilo Kiley played in the first part of Bright Eyes for the international dates of their tour in 2005, then at Coldplay's North American concerts in the fall of 2005>.
Their songs have often featured television series, including Newport Beach and Dawson. The Frug and 85 (from The Initial Friends) are featured in an episode of Dawson's third season.
