Rodrigo y Gabriela (often abbreviated "Rod y Gab") is a band from Mexico City composed of Rodrigo Sánchez (solo guitar) and Gabriela Quintero (rhythm guitar).
The duo was formed in Mexico City, where the two musicians played in a thrash metal band called Tierra Acida, formerly Castlow. Feeling more and more frustrated by the limited reach of the Mexican music scene, they performed in Ireland and then in the rest of Europe, where they met with success. This duo has been playing Latin music since 2001, influenced by rock 'n' roll, folk, jazz and metal. He recorded virtually all of his tracks live and has introduced many repertoire in his repertoire, including Metallica (Orion) and Led Zeppelin (Stairway to Heaven).
Both classical guitarists moved to Dublin, where they were constantly working on new songs. Their album released in February 2006 arrived directly number one on the Irish charts.
