The Gladiators is a Jamaican reggae band formed in 1967.
The initial training consists of three friends from the same Kingston 11 area: Albert Griffiths, Errol Grandison and David Webber. Albert Griffiths records his first single You Are The Girl in 1967, which comes out in front of B Train to Skaville Ethiopians, credited to Al & The Ethiopians. The first success of the band is the single Hello Carol in December 1968.
In 1976, thanks to the signing with the Virgin label, the tetralogy Trenchtown Mix Up, Proverbial Reggae, Naturality and Sweet So Till is distributed throughout Europe. Many of their titles from this period become reggae classics.
