Roxette

Roxette is a Swedish pop rock band from Halmstad. He understands Marie Fredriksson (vocals, keyboards) and Per Gessle (vocals, guitar). Formed in 1986, the duo achieved international success at the end of the 1980s with the release of the album Look Sharp! Their third album, Joyride, released in 1991, is as successful as its predecessor. Roxette reaches 19 times the UK Top 40 hits, and several times the US Hot 100, including The Look, Listen to Your Heart, It Must Have Been Love, and Joyride.

The band, made up of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, debuted in 1986 with the single Neverending Love. The album Pearls of Passion is released the same year. In October 1988, the album Look Sharp allows them to know the worldwide success with the single Listen to Your Heart and they are ranked in the hit parade of 24 countries.

In Sweden, Dressed for Success and Listen to Your Heart are the first two singles of their second album Look Sharp !, Per Gessle and EMI Sweden have preferred to put forward the voice of Marie Fredriksson. The two singles reach the top 10 of the Swedish charts, while the album, released in October 1988 in Sweden, remains 14 weeks first of the charts. The album allows the group to win its first prize Rockbjörnen and Per Gessle his first Grammis in the category of best composer >>>.

While the third single Look Look !, The Look, becomes another success in the top 10 in their country, Roxette is still unknown internationally. It was only while studying in Sweden that a Minneapolis student, Dean Cushman, heard The Look and brought a copy of Look Sharp! at home in 1988. He gave the album to a local American radio station, KDWB 101.3 FM. The chain plays The Look and, well received by the listeners, spreads quickly towards the other chains of radio >>>>>.
