Santigold

Santi White known as Santigold (formerly Santogold ), born September 25, 1976 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a singer-songwriter and producer US.

A lawyer's daughter, she graduated from Wesleyan University in music and African-American studies.

Santi White began his career earning an Artistic Director position at Epic Records. She resigns quickly to devote herself to producing and writing songs. She wrote and produced the first album of the singer R'n'B Res, entitled How I Do. In 2003, she went on to sing for the post-punk band Stiffed in Philadelphia. That's when the owner of the label Lizard King Record marks it and makes it sign solo. This is the beginning of Santogold.

His first album was released in May 2008 in France, preceded by the single L.E.S Artists. His music is influenced by a variety of influences: Aretha Franklin's soul, Talking Heads and Smiths' pop. Her record also owes a lot to dub and new wave: the singer also says that My Superman is based on Red Light, a song by Siouxsie and the Banshees.
