Savage garden

Savage Garden is an Australian pop rock duo formed in 1994 in Brisbane, Queensland. The duo, composed of Darren Hayes on vocals and Daniel Jones (keyboard, guitar) split in 2001, having met with international success between 1997 and 2000. Their best-known titles remain Truly Madly Deeply , To the Moon and Back , I Want You , The Animal Song , and I Knew I Loved You . Their only two albums, Savage Garden and Affirmation , were number one in their native Australia and have reached the Top 10 in the United Kingdom as well as in the United States. The duo is known to have won a record 10 awards at the ARIA Music Awards of 1997, rewarding the quality of their first album and titles. At the beginning, Darren Hayes (singer, lyricist) and Daniel Jones (composer, instrumentalist) met in January 1993 thanks to an advertisement published by Daniel in a local music magazine in Brisbane. Daniel was in search of a singer for his band Red Edge, which he had formed with his brothers. Darren, then a student at the university, was the only applicant and was therefore retained. The current passes immediately between the two men and they decide to leave Red Edge to work in duet. After a brief period in 1994 when they play under the name of Crush, they adopt the name of Savage Garden. The duo takes its name from the work of American writer Anne Rice. At the end of 1994, the two young men had already written enough titles to compose a demo, of which they sent 150 copies to various recording studios in the world. John Woodruff is the only one to answer them positively. He becomes their manager and negotiates a contract with Roadshow / Warner Music. In 1995, they were in the studio working on their first album with producer Charles Fisher, known for his work with Air Supply in the 1980s.
