Silverstein

Silverstein is a Canadian post-hardcore band from Burlington, Ontario. More than 200,000 copies of their first CD, When Broken is Easily Fixed, are out. In 2005, Silverstein returns with a new album, Discovering the Waterfront, followed by 18 Candles the Early Years in 2006, Arrivals and Departures in 2007 and A Shipwreck in the Sand in 2009.

The origin of the group name comes from the name of the author Shel Silverstein. Members voted for the name because they liked all the stories of the writer and one of his books, Where the Sidewalk Ends, had been left on the floor at home for a month.

The group is formed in February 2000>. During August the first year, they release their first EP Summer's Stellar Gaze realized by themselves>. After several changes of formation, the group recruits Billy Hamilton, a local fan who will fulfill the conditions of bassist. In December 2000, he joined the band after Told helped him learn music. After a rehearsal session on December 26, 2000, he officially started at Silverstein.

The following spring, in 2001, guitarist Richard McWalter left the group to move to Victoria, British Columbia, to study engineering. He is replaced by Neil Boshart, childhood friend of Shane Told. The new band records a second EP, When the Shadows Beam, before their tour to Western Canada. The band signed with Victory Records in October 2002.
