Siouxsie and the banshees

Siouxsie and the Banshees [ I ː Z ] is a British alternative rock band from London, England originally associated with the English punk scene, Siouxsie and the Banshees quickly evolved to create "a form of post-punk discord filled with rhythmic and sonic experimentation." The Times quotes the band as "one of the most adventurous musical adventurers more daring and uncompromising of the post-punk period ".

Siouxsie and the Banshees are cited as a major influence by new-wave bands, such as Joy Division> and The Cure>, and by indie rock bands like The Smiths >>>, and alternative rock like Radiohead >>> . Siouxsie is also mentioned in an interview by PJ Harvey. Since its separation in 1996, the band continues to be referenced by a host of other artists including LCD Soundsystem, Tricky, Massive Attack, TV on the Radio and Bloc Party.

The singer Siouxsie Sioux and the bassist Steven Severin are the two founding members of the group. With the guitarist John McKay and the drummer Kenny Morris, they record in 1977 two John Peel Sessions very noticed for the BBC. In 1978, the group released a first post-punk single, the over-vitaminized Hong Kong Garden ranked as soon as it was released in the UK. This piece produced by Steve Lillywhite, features a particularly catchy oriental motif, played on a xylophone.
