Snoop Dogg , by his real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr. , born October 20, 1971 in Long Beach, California, is an American rapper and producer. Snoop Dogg first became known as MC in West Coast rap, and became one of Dr. Dre's proteges. His mother quickly nicknamed him "Snoopy" because of the expression of his face; he later adopts the name of Snoop "Doggy" Dogg, when he starts recording. He shortened his name in 1998 when he left the label that reveals him, Death Row Records, to sign on the label of Master P, No Limit Records. Several of his cousins are also rappers, including RBX, Nate Dogg, Beny Benz, Lil '½ Dead and Daz Dillinger.
Snoop's debut album, Doggystyle , was released in 1993 on Death Row Records, a debut for the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Top R & B / Hip-Hop Albums. With almost a million copies sold in a week, "Doggystyle" is quadruple platinum certified in 1994 and contains several hit singles such as Who Am I (What's My Name)? and Gin and Juice . In 1994, Snoop participated in the soundtrack for the short film Death Row Records's Murder Was the Case, in which he plays. His second album Tha Doggfather , published in 1996, also starts first in classifications and contains the hit single Snoop's Upside Ya Head . The album is certified platinum double disc in 1997.
Snoop Dogg becomes famous for his "sluggish, lazy and lazy" voice, in contrast to most rappers of his generation. It has about 40 million albums sold abroad.
