Something corporate

Something Corporate is an American rock band from Orange County, California. He is led by Andrew McMahon. While they categorized their own music as belonging to the rock piano movement, the recording industry has classified them in the sub-genres of pop punk. They are currently under contract with Drive-Thru Records and Geffen Records.

In September 1998, singer and pianist Andrew McMahon, bassist Kevin "Clutch" Page and drummer Brian Ireland, founding members of the group Left Here, merges with guitarists Josh Partington and Reuben Hernandez to give birth to Something Corporate. The band's name is an ironic reference to their lack of interest in music marketing. The group independently made a first demo album entitled Ready ... Break in September 2000. On March 27, 2001, Something Corporate announced a change in size in the composition of the group, indeed, Hernandez left the group to be replaced definitely by William Tell .

The quintet is signed shortly after at Drive-Thru Records, which will release their first official album, the EP Audioboxer on October 2, 2001, which will be featured live at Tower Records and an appearance in the program. The Late Show on February 25, 2002. The critics applaud the EP (including the song If UC Jordan in the clip which we can see Chris Owen the actor of American Pie) and a clause in their contract with Drive-Thru Records led the group to a signing at MCA that will merge with later to become Geffen Records. May 21, 2002 is marked by the release of their first complete album Leaving through the Window with tracks such as I Woke Up in a Car, and Punk Rock Princess. The album reached the top spot of the Billboard Heatseekers chart as well as the Billboard Alternative New Artist chart and 101> Billboard 200 Albums Chart spot, while Punk Rock Princess reached 33> place of the UK Singles Chart>. To fill the gap between the release of Leaving through the Window and their next album, Something Corporate is making a half-hour video titled A Year in the Life in November 2002 and a compilation of rare tracks, Songs for Silent Movies, released in Japan in May 2003.

On October 21, 2003, the North album appeared and will run to 339,000 copies. The promotion of the album is marked by an appearance at Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC where the band will perform If U C Jordan and Space, the only title of the album that will appear in single. On February 4, 2004, William Tell announced his departure from the band to focus on his solo career. It's Bobby "Raw" Anderson, a member of the River City High band who will replace him as a guitarist for the group tour. On May 20, 2004, Something Corporate recorded a live performance at the Ventura Theater, which will appear on the eponymous DVD, Live at the Ventura Theater.
