Spawn of Possession is a Swedish technical death metal band from Kalmar. Formed in 1997, the group has a total of three studio albums, Cabinet published in 2002, Noctambulant in 2006, and Incurso in 2012.
In his debut in February 1997, Spawn of Possession consists of Jonas Bryssling (guitar), Jonas Karlsson (guitar) and Dennis Röndum (drums). The idea of the group was to create a brutal music that would push the limits of death metal. After three years of performing covers, the band recorded their first demo, The Forbidden . After the recording, the band finds their bassist Erlend Caspersen. A year later, the group will record their second demo, "Church of Deviance" and in December 2001, Spawn of Possession signs a contract with the label Unique Leader Records.
In June 2002, after six months of composition, Spawn of Possession began recording his first studio album, Cabinet . The band finished recording at Pama Studios with producer and engineer Magnus Sedenberg (who had already worked on their demos). The Cabinet registration runs smoothly and the group gets the expected result. A tour is organized afterwards, starting with four weeks in Europe with Disavowed, Vile, Inhume and Mangled. A second tour, in North America, for six weeks follows with Severed Savior, Pyaemia and Gorgasm. Spawn of Possession records a total of 27 concerts that year >>>. After his American tour, Spawn of Possession participates in another tour, the No Mercy festival, with bands like Cannibal Corpse, Hypocrisy, Kataklysm, Exhumed, Vomitory and Carpathian Forest. After this tour, the group plays in summer festivals such as Fuck the Commerce (Germany), Stonehenge (Norway), Grind You Mother (Italy) and Mountains of Death (Switzerland).
On October 24, 2005, the band signs to the label Neurotic Records>. The successor of the first album is Noctambulant, recorded in July 2006 for Neurotic Records. In 2009, Christian Muenzner and Matthew Chalk join Spawn of Possession>.
