Steeler

Steeler is an American hard rock and glam metal band from Nashville, Tennessee. The band only released a single album of the same name before separating in 1984. A posthumous album, Metal Generation: The Steeler Anthology, was released in 2005.

The group was formed in 1981 in Nashville and includes Ron Keel on vocals and guitar, Michael Dunigan on lead guitar, Bobby Eva on drums, and Tim Morrison on bass. In 1982, they released the single Cold Day in Hell / Take Her Down. The Metal Massacre compilation, published by Metal Blade Records, contains Cold Day in Hell>. Bobby Eva is quickly replaced by drummer Mark Edwards. This new formation does not last long and does not release albums or singles.

Shortly after, Dunigan and Morrison leave Steeler and are replaced by Rik Fox on bass and a young Swedish guitarist of 18 years, Yngwie Malmsteen. This new band released the band's first album, Steeler, which has a moderate commercial success, even though it is now highly sought after by many Malmsteen fans. After four months, including nine concerts and recording sessions, Yngwie is replaced by Mitch Perry.

Mitch Perry, Rik Fox and Mark Edwards leave in their turn and are replaced by Kurt James on guitar, Greg Chaisson on bass and Bobby Marks on drums. This formation also publishes no albums bi singles. As a result of these constant changes, Steeler never managed to sign with a label and Ron Keel decides to stop this band and start a new project under his own name, Keel>.
