The Knack

The Knack is a rock band from Los Angeles formed in 1978 and mainly known for the single My Sharona, released in 1979. Before the Knack, singer Doug Fieger, from Detroit, Michigan, played with Sky, a rock band in the style of the Sunset Bombers. Bruce Gary has left the band to focus on producing artists, including the Ventures, and participates in studio and live recordings with musicians such as Jack Bruce, Mick Taylor, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Spencer Davis, Stephen Stills, Rod Stewart, or Sheryl Crow. Gary died of cancer on August 22, 2006, at the age of 55. Several drummers have succeeded Gary among the Knack including Billy Ward (on the album Serious Fun), Terry Bozzio (on Zoom) and David Holmes Jones Henderson (on Normal as the Next Guy and Live at the Rock N Roll Funhouse). Currently, the band's drummer is Pat Mr. Big Torpey.
