Suidakra , stylized SuidAkrA , is a German melodic folk metal and death metal band from Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia. It was originally formed in 1994 under the name of Gloryfication. After a name change the same year, the band releases its first album, Lupine-essence. Towards the end of 1997, the band signed a contract with the label Last Episode that allowed them to return to the studio in December 1997, and publish the year after their second album, Auld Lang Syne.
Suidakra was formed in 1994 by guitarist Arkadius Antonik and drummer Stefan Möller under the name Gloryfication. The group recorded two demos (XIII in 1994 and Dawn in 1995). It was during 1994 that the group changed its name to SuidAkrA, which is Arkadius's anagram.
In June 1997 the band released their first album, Lupine-essence>. This album was recorded in April 1997 in Leverkusen's Jam Studios. Towards the end of 1997, the band signed a contract with the Last Episode label that allowed them to return to the studio in December 1997. Their second album, Auld Lang Syne, was released on April 6, 1998. Two more albums will be released: Lays From Afar on December 4, 1999> and The Arcanum on September 4, 2000>.
Suidakra changes label and signs with Century Media Records. The latter allows them to release their fifth album Emprise to Avalon, July 26, 2002>. This one will be followed by Signs For the Fallen in 2003. It is from this moment that one will note a change in the style of the group, the latter reducing the elements folk and accentuating a little more their style of death melodic metal>. The group changes contract again and signs with Armageddon Music. He will then publish "=" in "> Command to Charge in 2005, and => in"> Caledonia in 2006. In April 2008, the group releases its DVD 13 Years of Celtic Wartunes which includes recordings of their appearances at Kielowatt Festival and Wacken Open Air 2007 as well as a best-of>.
