Beatsteaks

Beatsteaks is a German punk rock band from Berlin. The band has seven albums, a live album, three EPs, 13 singles, and four DVDs.

Peter Baumann, Stefan Hircher, Alexander Rosswaag and Bernd Kurtzke formed the band in 1995. Soon they were joined by Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß on vocals and guitar. During the Boombox tour in 2011, singer Arnim reveals that the song Territorial Pissings led to the band's formation. However, the group clearly states in an interview that this was misinformation, which does not exactly correspond to the facts. In 1996, the young band won the SO36 local music competition and managed to open for the Sex Pistols at a concert in Berlin. This is the tenth concert of the group.

Their first album, the eponymous Beatsteaks, is released in 1997, and recorded in their rehearsal room, 48/49. It includes several songs in German, and the last ones in the list are in English. In 1999, the band released its second studio album, Launched, to the American punk label Epitaph Records. The group makes a change to the bass, with the arrival of Torsten Scholz replacing Alexander Rosswaag. They went on tour with Bad Religion, Die Ärzte, Donots and Die Toten Hosen in 2005, playing in front of a wider audience.

In 2002, their third album, Living Targets is released. It includes their first Let Me In and Summer singles that will be broadcast on radio and television. At the end of 2002, the band performed at Berlin Hall Columbia and then released EP Wohnzimmer-EP, the group's first collaboration with producer Moses Schneider. Beatsteaks plays in 2003 with the band Die Ärzte at the Unrockbar. The breakthrough came in Berlin in 2004 with the album Smack Smash, especially with their second single from the album I Do not Care as Long as You Sing. At the MTV Europe Music Awards 2004, they won the "Best German Group" category . At the end of 2005, the double DVD B-Seite is published and includes a self-produced documentary on the history of the group and a compilation of several concerts. In 2006, Beatsteaks played three concerts and two summer festivals. After the release of the first single Jane Became Insane March 9, 2007 released the album Limbo Messiah on March 30, 2007. The album includes the singles Cut Off the Top, Demons Galore, and Meantime enthalten. On June 7, 2007, he played his song Deine Stimme gegen Armut at Rostock in front of 70,000 people on July 7, 2007. On May 2, 2008, the Kanonen auf Spatzen double-album came out with two CDs and one DVD. In late December 2009, Beatsteaks toured the Southside Festival and the 2010 Hurricane Festival before playing Nova Rock.
