Borknagar

Borknagar is a progressive metal band> Norwegian from Bergen, founded in 1995 by Øystein Garnes Brun. The style of the band mixes black metal and folk metal with progressive and melodious sound elements. The lyrics of the group often present philosophy, nature, and the cosmos.

Borknagar was formed in 1995 in Bergen, Norway, by the musician Øystein Garnes Brun. The latter founded the group after leaving the Molested group. Bored by the brutal aspect of his music, he wanted to explore another form of approach to metal, more melodious and harmonious.

The year after the band's creation, Borknagar releases his first studio album, an eponymous album. This album contains raw and highlighted black metal sounds, and is also their only album to date only composed in Norwegian. In addition, it is the only album recorded with the group's original band. The bassist Infernus leaves Borknagar shortly after the release of the album. Thanks to the latter, the band signs with the Century Media Records label, to which it publishes the following year "The Olden Domain" . Since then, all of Borknagar's albums have been released under this label. This opus marks the beginning of the evolution towards a music more oriented towards the melody and the folk metal. In 1998 comes out The Archaic Course , their third disc, followed by the release of Quintessence in 2000, then by Empiricism the following year.

In 2004 released the album Epic. Regarding the title, Øystein explains: "We worked very hard to find a title. There were a lot of ideas. But no title went with the whole of our album. The titles were only half of our songs. so, we thought of Epic>. "
