Abyssos is a Swedish black metal band from Sundsvall. The group was compared to the British group Cradle of Filth and Dissection. Christian Rehn, the band singer, quotes Black Sabbath, Dio, Helloween, Iron Maiden, WASP and Motley Crue as his inspirations. Abyssos focuses on notable themes such as the undead.
All members of Abyssos play since the early 1990s in various groups of death metal and black metal.
Andreas Soderlund was formerly a member of the Hekate black metal band, later renamed Dark. After the disappearance of Sombre, Soderlund joins Johansson in the group Insalubrious. With Christian Rehn, he begins the creation of songs within Insalubrious>.
In 1996, the group released its first demo Wherever the Witches Might Fly , from the British label Cacophonous Records. The band then releases its first studio album, "Together We Summon the Dark", recorded at Academy Studios, Yorkshire, UK in November 1998> . It was released in October 1997>. Two years later, in December 1999, they released their second and last album, Fhinsthanian Nightbreed . The group then ceases to exist.
Between 2001> and 2003>, according to the sources, the group announces a third album titled Delomelanicon. It is almost entirely composed but without label. No more news is announced since.
