The joy formidable

The Great Joy is a British alternative rock band from Wales. He was trained in 2008 and currently resides in London, England. It is composed of Ritzy Bryan (vocals and guitar), Rhydian Dafydd (vocals and bass) and Matt Thomas (drums), the latter having replaced Justin Stahley.

Singer Ritzy Bryan and bassist Rhydian Dafydd have been playing together since 2003 in independent rock bands Tricky Nixon and Sidecar Kisses before forming The Joy Formidable.

In 2008, the trio played at the Latitude Festival and the Reading and Leeds Festivals and released on August 18, 2008 its first single, exclusively vinyl, Austere> that can also be heard in an episode of the British series Skins. The training occurs for the first time in France on January 15, 2009 at the Maroquinerie in Paris. That year released two new singles, still vinyl, Cradle> and Whirring that we find with Austere on the mini album A Balloon Called Moaning which, according to Les Inrockuptibles, rehabilitates shoegazing and noisy pop>.

After the release of two singles in 2010, Popinjay and I Do not Want to See You Like This, the band's first album, The Big Roar, is released in the UK on January 24, 2011. According to the Inrockuptibles again, it mixes shoegazing and wild savagery>. The single Austere is reissued while a new clip is made.
