Veil of maya

Veil of Maya is an American metalcore band from Chicago, Illinois. The band is currently signed to the Sumerian Records label and has a total of five albums. Their album Matriarch (2015) is no longer characterized by deathcore >>>>>, musical style usually played by the group in previous albums>. They are also associated with the genre djent >>>. The name of the group refers to Maya, an illusion concept of Indian philosophy.

The group was formed in 2004 in Chicago, Illinois, after the breakup of the melodic death metal band Insurrection, which will lead Marc Okubo (lead guitar), Sam Applebaum (drums) and Kris Higler (bass) to form a new project>. Guitarist Timothy Marshall and singer Adam Clemans join them soon after. After recording and releasing an eponymous demo in 2005, guitarist Scott Okarma joins the band, participating in local concerts and tours. At this point, Veil of Maya is a sextet of four guitarists, which only lasts a few months before Marshall and Okarma leave. Bryan Ruppell replaces the rhythm guitar.

With five members, the band recorded, self-produced and released their first album, All Things Set Aside, to Corrosive Recordings in 2006. In early 2006, singer Clemans and guitarist Ruppell left the band leaving Veil of Maya opportunity to recruit Brandon Butler, former singer of the Iscariot group. The band decides to leave the place of rhythmic guitar vacant.

In January 2008, after a few interviews and successful tours, Veil of Maya signs for Sumerian Records>. Sumerian Artistic Agent Shawn Keith and Founder Ash Avildsen are pleased with this partnership. Veil of Maya's second album, The Common Man's Collapse, was recorded with Butler in 2008, and released the same year. Shortly after the release of the album, the band separates from the bassist Kristopher "Kris" Higler in 2009, which is replaced by Matthew Pantelis, formerly of Born of Osiris.
