Yanni

Yanni , by his real name Ioannis Hrysomallis (in modern Greek pronounced ""ννης Χρυσομάλλης ) pronounced Chrysomallis , born November 14, 1954 in Kalamata, Greece, is a composer, pianist, keyboardist Greek self-taught, new age style.

Yanni left his homeland at the age of eighteen to enter the University of Minnesota. After completing studies in psychology, he would have rather looked for a life in music but he had no musical training, and could not read a note. After playing the keyboard in local rock bands such as Chameleon, he moved to California to continue his work in the soundtrack of films.

In 1987, he assembled a small band of friends who had long been Charlie Adams and John Tesh, and began traveling to promote his first instrumental albums, Keys to Imagination, Out of Silence, and Chameleon Day.

Later, he won the 1992 Grammy nominations for his albums, Dare To Dream, and in 1993 for In My Time.

His success is a real breakthrough, with the release of "Yanni Live at the Acropolis" , a concert filmed on 23 September 1993 at the Odeon Theater of Herodes Atticus. in Athens, Greece, a concert deemed to be the second best-selling video-clip of all time. From the composition of this release, Acroyali / Standing in Motion has been found for the Mozart Effect . Yanni has since performed concerts reaching over two million people in more than twenty countries around the world.
