Zebrahead

Zebrahead is an American punk rock band from La Habra, Orange County, California.

Zebrahead is a band from La Habra, California, formed in the summer of 1996 by singer and guitarist Justin Mauriello (former member of Once There), guitarist Greg Bergdorf (former member of 409), bassist Ben Osmudson (ex -member of 3-Ply) and drummer Ed Udhus (ex-member of 409). The group, inspired by bands such as Fugazi and The Descendents, mixes different musical styles, such as punk rock, pop punk and ska punk. The band will be quite "banal" compared to the local scene in Orange County, and then decided to incorporate into their sound elements of hip-hop recruiting rapper Ali Tabatabaee as a co-singer.

After releasing their Zebrahead demo (better known as Yellow) in May 1998, Zebrahead signed with Columbia Records. They released their first studio album, Waste of Mind in October 1998, followed by their second studio album Playmate of the Year in August 2000. This album is an opportunity for the group to join the magazine Playboy having had the privilege of turning the clip of the single Playmate of the Year to Hugh Hefner's mansion. The band then released the EP Stupid Fat Americans in Japan in October 2001.

Zebrahead then goes to Europe to promote their first two albums and will make several festivals (up to 250 dates in the year 2001). They perform the first parts of bands such as Green Day, Reel Big Fish and The Offspring and share the stage with Less Than Jake, Kottonmouth Kings, 311 and Goldfinger among others.
