Choking victim

Choking Victim is an American punk rock band from New York. They mix hardcore punk and ska, playing a genre later called skacore. After the break-up of the group, which took place on the same day as the recording of their only No Gods studio album, No Managers, members later created the band Leftover Crack.

The group became known at C-Squat, the famous Manhattan squat, with their innovative music and politically engaged lyrics. They are also controversial by their satanic image and their references to the marginal lifestyle of crack smokers, shoplifters and squatters. The group claims its atheism, referring to the Devil more for a blasphemous purpose than for a real satanic cult. Their album No Gods, No Managers presents excerpts from American political scientist Michael Parenti's lectures.

Choking Victim explodes from the first day of the recording of their first studio album, No Gods, No Managers, but the recordings of the day are enough to make a complete album. After their break-up, Stza and Ezra later formed the Leftöver Crack band, while Skwert and Ezra still formed the INDK group. Skwert is still the 2008 leader of the ska punk group Public Serpents>. Sascha spends the last few years doing organic farming in upstate New York. Chocking Victim and Leftöver Crack are openly anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic and anti-fascist groups.

On November 11, 2000, Choking Victim reorganized for a concert in New York's Tompkins Square Park, replacing former Shayne bassist Alec. At the end of 2005, the band meets a second time for four concerts. On June 11, 2006, they played again at Tompkins Square Park, with the participation of various political stakeholders, including members of the Misled Youth Project. In July 2006, they visit the Dominican Republic>, just before the European tour of Leftöver Crack. In addition to Leftöver Crack and INDK, members of Choking Victim also participate in Morning Glory and Crack Rock Steady 7.
