Dan balan

Dan Bălan (born February 6, 1979 in Chişinău, Moldova) is a Moldovan singer, songwriter and producer currently residing in New York.

He got his biggest hits while he was part of the O-Zone dance group. which he was the leader and the composer. He formed the band O-Zone in 1999 and produced three albums between 1999 and 2004. The album that sold the most was DiscOzone. This album has been n> 1 in six countries and has sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide, including 1 million in Japan. It was with the song Dragostea din tei that he won the most success. This song was n> 1 in 32 countries and n> 3 in the UK and sold 12 million copies worldwide. Another major success of the group was Despre tine, which was n> 1 in five countries.

Before entering the world of pop music, Dan Balan had formed a gothic metal band called Inferialis. He was a keyboardist and composer in this formation. Despite the fact that the band has never recorded an album, it has had many fans in the underground Moldovan world.

In 2004, Dan decided to get closer to his rock roots. He recruits the best musicians in his area and leaves for Los Angeles in 2005. Although Dan had already written songs in anticipation of this new band, it will take him two years to define his musical signature and a new catchy style. He asked producer Jack Joseph Puig to produce his first record on American soil. The recording sessions were held from April to June 2006 at the renowned Ocean Way Studio in Los Angeles.
