Deafheaven is an American black metal band from San Francisco, California. The band is formed as a duet with George Clarke and Kerry McCoy, who will record a demo together. They then recruit three new members and go on tour. Before the end of 2010, the group signs to the label Deathwish Inc. then publishes its first album Roads to Judah, in April 2011. Another album follows, Sunbather , in 2013 and is acclaimed by the specialized press>. In 2015, the band released their third album, New Bermuda .
The musical style of Deafheaven is described as black metal mixed with elements of post-metal and shoegaze. However, they do not fall into the black metal category.
