Singer and bassist Tyson Ritter and guitarist and programmer Nick Wheeler are at the beginning of high school when they begin to take an interest in music from their own side. They find themselves bored in their small town of Stillwater, Oklahoma and the duo naturally turns to music to take care of it. While Ritter goes to bed at impossible hours, spending hours watching AC / DC clips, Wheeler is at the other end of the city where he searches his sister's record collection of Def Leppard, Poison and Bon Jovi. It does not take more to Wheeler to start scratching the guitar and then interested in the drums and the piano. It was at a party in 1997, where Wheeler's previous group was playing, that they met officially. Ritter offered his services as a bassist, though never touching a bass, and both decided to form The All-American Rejects.
