Singer and bassist Tyson Ritter and guitarist and programmer Nick Wheeler are in early high school when they begin to take an interest in music on their own. They were then bored in their small town of Stillwater, Oklahoma and the duo naturally turned to music to keep them busy. While Ritter goes to bed at impossible hours, spending hours watching AC/DC clips, Wheeler is across town rummaging through his sister's record collection, which includes albums by Def Leppard, Poison and Bon Jovi. That's all Wheeler needs to start scratching the guitar and then focus on drums and piano. It was at a party in 1997, where Wheeler's previous group played, that they officially met. Ritter offered his services as a bass player, although he had never touched a bass, and the two decided to form The All-American Rejects>.
