Dirty rotten imbeciles

Dirty Rotten Imbeciles (D.R.I.) is a thrash American crossover band, originally from Houston, Texas. The group currently consists of singer Kurt Brecht, guitarist Spike Cassidy, drummer Rob Rampy and bassist Harald Oimoen. Since its creation, D.R.I. has a total of seven studio albums, the last being released in 1995. From then on, the band continues its tours.

In 2004, D.R.I. released a demo EP of four tracks entitled Against Me , their first appearance in almost a decade. Since its launch, the group has made a lot of changes in its training.

The Dirty Rotten Imbeciles is formed on May 2, 1982 in the city of Houston, Texas. The original band consists of Spike Cassidy on guitar, Kurt Brecht on vocals, Eric Brecht on drums, and Dennis Johnson on bass guitar >>>. The group trains at Kurt and Eric's, but their parents, especially their dad, do not like the sound they play. It is from this moment that the group is named, because they have been described as, literally, a "band of dirty little morons" bunch of dirty rotten imbeciles ). The music video of their song "lang =" in "> Madman is also inspired by this scene during which Eric and Kurt's father suddenly stops the band because of the noise. that they play. They basically adopt the nickname U.S.D.R.I for a short time before renaming themselves D.R.I. Two months later, on July 2, 1982, the group played its first show at Joe Star's OMNI, Houston. On November 6 and 7, 1982, D.R.I. records his first songs in an EP entitled Dirty Rotten EP , with 22 songs for a total of 18 minutes. Only 1,000 copies of this EP have been created. A vinyl format of this EP was reissued in 1983, entitled Dirty Rotten LP . In 1983, D.R.I. leaves for San Francisco aboard a van in which they live. Dennis Johnson leaves the group and leaves for Texas. He is replaced by Sebastion Amok, and a few months later, D.R.I. participates in the Rock Against Reagan tour with the Dead Kennedys>. At the end of the tour, they replace Sebastion Amok, who leaves the band to play with The Dicks, by Josh Pappe.

They then released a four-song EP, titled "Violent Pacification" in 1984. After a tour in 1984, Eric Brecht got married and left the band. He is replaced by Felix Griffin, at this time 17 years. Also in 1984, one of their songs, Snap , appears on the compilation PEACE featuring music from other bands such as Crass, DOA, Dead Kennedys and MDC>. Their second album, Dealing With It , was released in March 1985. The band is going on a promotional tour of this album. During the recording of the album, Josh leaves the group. Mikey Offender (bassist of the band The Offenders) is asked to play in the album. On April 26, 1986, they recorded their show at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles and released the video under the title Live at the Olympic .
