Estatic Fear is an Austrian doom metal band formed in 1994. The band has two albums published by CCP Records, before separating in 1999.
The group was formed in 1994>, and led by one man, Matthias Kogler (aka Calix Miseriae), who surrounds himself when recording the albums of musicians. Their music draws inspiration from classical music and metal, all bathed in a medieval atmosphere. Its originality comes from the use of old instruments, such as flute or lute, mixed with acoustic guitar, cello or piano. This gives the melodies, very melancholy, a depth and a rare delicacy.
In 1996, the group released its first studio album, Somnium Obmutum. In 1999 released the second and last album of the group, A Dark Dance >>>>>. The texts and melodies of the album are entirely written by Matthias Kogler. Klaus Kogler, Matthias's father, had already participated in 1981 in Tsiegen Foot Music's album No Wave "0". The group separated in 1999.
