As Blood Black Runs is an American deathcore band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2003, the band has a total of four studio albums. Their debut album, Allegiance , is released on June 6, 2006>. The second, Instinct , is published on March 15, 2011>. Instinct reaches the top spot of the Billboard Heatseakers Albums and 111> Billboard 200 spot for the week of April 2, 2011>. On June 30, 2013, As Blood Runs Black announces a new album, Ground Zero , founded by the Net surfers on Indiegogo; the album is published on October 27, 2014.
As Blood Runs Black is formed in 2003 in Los Angeles from the ashes of a band called Broken Stems by singers Louie Ruvalcaba and Enrique "Ricky" Martin, bassist Richard Reyes, and guitarists Bijon Roybal and Kyle Hasenstaab>. Brian "Animal" Matute, the drummer of Broken Stems, leaves the band and is replaced by Hector "Lech" from Santiago. After a few rehearsals, the band decided to name themselves As Blood Runs Black and played their first concert at the San Pedro, Los Angeles, LA, playing three original songs and three times. Singers Louie Ruvalcaba and Ricky Martin write the lyrics for the first song, and bassist Richard Reyes writes lyrics for the first song, Before the Break of Dawn Hester Prynne and In Dying Days , all issues of the album. Two demos are published in 2004 and 2005.
In 2005, the group prepares to enter the studio to record their first album. However, Ruvalcaba, Martin, Reyes, Roybal and Hasenstaab leave the group, leaving behind De Santiago. De Santiago recruits Nick Stewart on bass, Ernie Flores on guitar, and Chris Blair as the only singer. As Blood Runs Black returns to the studio to record his first album, Allegiance , released on June 6, 2006. Shortly after the release of the album, Sal Mendez is recruited as second guitarist. For the next two years, As Blood Runs Black turns in support of the album Allegiance by participating in the Summer Slaughter.
At the end of 2008, Christopher Blair and Sal Roldan leave the band before their Australian tour. Sean Murphy of the hardcore band Endwell becomes singer for the rest of the tour, then officially in the band. In 2009, As Blood Runs Black recruited Danny Leal temporarily as a singer, Leal eventually becoming singer of the deathcore band Upon a Burning Body. Leal rotates with As Blood Runs Black during the first half of the year. Jonny McBee, singer of the band The Browning, becomes in turn temporary singer of the group. In 2009, Chris Blair will record Instinct to Undercity Recording Inc.
