Atreyu is a metalcore band from Orange County, California. Initially formed in 1998 as Retribution, the group changed its name shortly after discovering that a band from California already had that name.
The group was originally formed as Retribution in 1998. They changed names shortly after discovering that a band from California already bore that name, Atreyu (referring to the character of the film and book The Neverending Story) of the same name) is born. They release a five-piece EP titled "Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty at the Tribunal Records label. Atreyu signed with Victory Records in 2001, and their best-received albums will be published in this label.
The band's second album, The Curse , was released in 2004, with 450,000 copies sold>. The group then participates in the soundtrack of the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith, a cover of Bon Jovi's title You Give Love has Bad Name . After the release of The Curse , Atreyu then began a tour alongside Deftones and Thrice during the Taste of Chaos in 2005. Atreyu participates also to the soundtrack of Underworld: Evolution with the title Her Portrait in Black . Atreyu released his third album, A Death-Grip On Yesterday , March 28, 2006. The album reaches the 8> place of Billboard 200, with 69,000 copies sold>. In early 2007, Atreyu signed an American and international distribution contract with the Hollywood Records label. With this new label, the band is launching a fourth album, Lead Sails Paper Anchor . "Lead Sails Paper Anchor " was published on August 29, 2007, and debuted at 8> Billboard 200 Square with 43,000 copies sold in its first week> .
Atreyu's fifth album, "Congregation of the Damned" , is published on October 27, 2009>.
The band starts playing alongside Hollywood Undead, Escape the Fate and The Sleeping in October, at K-Rockathon 14 of the New York State Fairgrounds, Syracuse, New York >>>. In 2008, they participate in the Projekt Revolution Tour alongside Linkin Park.
